I have a vitamin D deficiency so i started taking a tablet everyday and my mild acne I’ve had for 10 years has gone, is this because of the vitamin D do you think? and why?
Probably! Acne has lots of causes but nutrient deficiencies are the most common. Vitamin D is very important for your skin
Im 26 and still have mild acne. Im on a strict low carb diet so I dont do any sugar whatsoever. My only two thoughts now is vitamins or giving up dairy (which would be hard on a low carb diet). I do drink tons of water. Ive thought about tanning but I really dont want to harm my skin. What has or hasnt worked for you????
I’m 26 too and have finally just figured out my acne issues
here’s some tips I’ve learned -
-Yes dairy may be your culprit! If you can’t give it up completely just yet, try reducing how much you eat and gradually replace it with dairy alternatives (almond milk is quite tasty). Dairy naturally contains hormones, so eating large amounts of it will affect your own hormones, which of course cause problems like acne (and PMS and bloating and mood swings and…)
-Multivitamins may seem like a great help but in truth they are extremely hard for your body to break down properly. Most are made with elemental sources so it’s like eating a rock and expecting to gain nutrition from it. They are really only good for making big companies rich. The only good brands are the ones that are crazy expensive, but don’t bother. The best option is to try to get everything you need from your diet instead. I personally use fitday.com to track my diet and make sure I’m getting everything I need, it does all the math for you and its easy to figure out what you are missing. You should be getting at least the minimum requirement of vitamins A, B, C, D, E, zinc, and iron. If you are on a low carb diet, I’m guessing you need more vitamin B ![]()
-Don’t wash your face too often. Once a day is enough, the more you wash it, the more your skin will react by producing more oils to replace what has just been lost. Most people who claim to have oily skin actually just overwash it, which will make it oily. Use mild, preferably natural, products that are chemical free (no parabens, SLS, etc) same goes for all skin products. I use dead sea mud soap, but have also heard great things about black African soap
-Always moisturize. This replaces the moisture you’ve just stripped off your face when you wash it, and will prevent your skin producing too much oil. If you have dry skin, coconut oil works great. If you are afraid it will be too heavy for you, aloe vera gel will also work, just make sure it’s a good quality one (aka, not drug store brand)
-Get enough sleep. Your body repairs itself at night so lack of sleep results in all kinds of problems. It also helps you deal with stress properly, another cause of break outs
-Make sure you are ‘regular’. Acne is often connected to colon health
-If all else fails, a good liver cleanse will sometimes do the trick. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on them though (another money grab). Check out the one in the link below, it will cost you $3 and 24 hours
I’m interested in buying some type of multi-vitamin pill thats good for acne, and is generally good for you, because I feel I don’t eat enough due to school, work, and lack of money. So any suggestions?
Acne is caused by a bacteria, like the person above me vitamins wont have much effect on acne. Try and keep clean skin or if its really bad go and see your doctor.
ok so i’ve had a acne problem since i hit highschool. I am now 20 and my acne has become SO severe. my cheeks and chin are pretty much covered with pimples and blemishes, it’s discusting. Now I tried EVERYTHING, proactiv, clearasil, clean and clear, home remedies, ..etc etc. so i did some research online and read a successful story about a woman who also suffered from acne. She tried vitamin D and her acne CLEARED. so im willing to give vitamin D a shot. So i went to walmart’s pharmacy section and asked for vitamin D for skin problems and she said that it wasnt the right thing i needed… :S
I’m confused… here is my question.. is there a specific vitamin D or is there only 1 kind of vitamin D ???
i meant to say, is there several vitamin D pills.. or is there only 1 kind?
Yes, the best form of vitamin D is Vitamin D3, so make sure you get this one, you can take 1000-3000 IU per day.
You should also consider detoxification, and some other very important supplements like anti-oxidants and fish oil to clear things up for good.
See this article on acne- very good info-http://www.healthymillionairebook.com/blog/?p=341
No.
Good skin care does.
Acne medication could worsen what ever allergies you have, so instead of trying out one product after another, you’re actually spreading it around.
The less products you use, the better for your skin. Use a bath & body wash like Suave, Irish Spring, Dove Bath & Body wash in the shower, use a washcloth. Treat your face like the rest of your body, take a shower everyday or wash your face everyday.
The secret is keeping your face clean and oil-free. I also don’t use liquid on my face for anything, and very little moisturizer, not even a dime size. Since my face is not dry. Good skin also comes from your good genes. Increase your fresh fruits & vegetables 3-5 servings per day. And programmed your mind to do this day after day, for the rest of your life.
The beauty industry is a billion dollar business, they know acne is everyone’s problem, but instead of saying soap is drying for you, they have to invent an acne product that can worsen the skin as MANY TEENAGERS have experienced during hormonal change, but as you get older those are completely a waste of time & money!
Sometimes just the oil on your face from make up and lotions, even from your hair can travel to your face causing acne to come out. Others, from stress, hormones & diet or foods.

I have over 4 decades of good skin care, then and now, the methods are the same, only the products have changed, and there are more product poisoning & allergies now than ever, it is a billion dollar business, btw.
Basically if a person goes outside more will they have less acne?
Yes. Sunlight itself is antibacterial and is toxic to the acne causing bacterium, P acnes. Exposure to moderate amounts of sunlight can also help decrease inflammation and even out skin tones, which decreases the appearance of acne. However, excessive sunlight exposure is unlikely to help and puts you at risk of sunburn and long-term skin damage. Like most things, it’s all about moderation.
I just got the Colonial Dames Vitamin E cream and pure tea tree oil the day before yesterday. I am mixing a little bit of the tea tree oil with the vitamin E cream and putting it on at night and putting the vitamin E cream on during the day. How long should it before I start to see results, have any of you tried these products?
Thanks!
PS I have mild acne and a few acne scars, my skin is very fair and easily marked. I also have slightly dry skin.
No – have not tried it. Some people have found relief with Tea tree oil. Should work. Sensible diet, good hygiene and low stress should keep acne away. If tea tree oil/Vit E combination does not work, try some great OTC products like Niapads, Cetaphil etc. Remember, the most effective treatment is one that is simple to use. For eg. Niapads helps exfoliate, open clogged skin pores and gets rid of acne in one simple step without drying your skin. Contains Lavender oil – well known moisturizer.
I’ve been battling acne caused by PCOS for awhile now. Any acne regiment products have dried out my skin and I was recently introduced to tea tree oil and vitamin e oil to help clear my acne. I’ve tried the tea tree oil diluted in water as a toner and it’s helping alot. But, now i am left with some flaky dry spots all over my face.
Can I continue using tea tree oil toner I made and apply vitamin oil as a moisturizer? Will that be okay to use together?
Once again,
I have recommended this to soooo many people on here but everyone just seems to think that washing your face and using expensive treatments like proactive are the only thing to work.. NOT THE CASE!
So if your willing to listen I’ll tell you what I do, it works but u have to trust it.
Witch Hazel.
Its a liquid, comes in a bottle, u can get it at wal-mart for $2-4 bucks.
All you gotta do is apply the witch hazel to your face (morning and night) using a cotton pad, let it dry && then use an oil free moisturizer.
Witch hazel
Clean & Clear moisturizer.
(this coming from
a girl who has used proactive, murad, skin ID and almost every product out there, cuz I too struggled)
I get no breakouts now.
P.S if what your using now is drying out your face an leaving flakes, stop using it.
It’s only damaging it more.
I was reading up on the pill Accutane and saw that one of its main ingrediant is Vitamin A. If I ate things that had high amount of Vitamin A in it like Apricots, cantaloupe, carrots or grape fruit would reduce my acne ?
I dont have a credit card so no remedies that can be purshed online please ![]()
I’ll share my experience with Accutane. It works, but it is a very strange drug and you should make sure that you communicate all symptoms to your doctor. Side effects: When taking accutane I experienced very very chapped lips, dry itchy skin, peeling skin, thinning hair ( fell out in hand fulls), blurred vision (while on accutane I developed astigmatism and had to get special contacts, this later went away), flash headaches -this happened at least twice a day, a sharp blinding pain behind my eyes that lasted about 5 seconds then went away, last but not least I was extremely angry and aggressive. I was constantly frustrated and annoyed, I was either yelling or crying. I also had kidney stones 5 years after taking the drug..I am not sure if it could have been caused by accutane. I purchase Accutane through reputable http://www.gofmanpharmacy.com/ they’ve been very reliable so far. Check this FDA link about Accutane http://google2.fda.gov/search?client=FDAgov&site=FDAgov-Recalls-Safety|FDAgov-Consumers|FDAgov-WarningLetters-ICECI|FDAgov-ImportAlerts-Industry|FDAgov-MedWatch-Safety|FDAgov-Section-Drugs&output=xml_no_dtd&proxystylesheet=FDAgov&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&as_q=accutane&num=20&btnG=Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&restrictBox=FDAgov-Recalls-Safety&restrictBox=FDAgov-Consumers&restrictBox=Medwatch&restrictBox=FDAgov-WarningLetters-ICECI&restrictBox=FDAgov-ImportAlerts-Industry&restrictBox=FDAgov-Section-Drugs&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&sort=date
